Application:

1. Why do you need information about my income?
   
   

   180 Sudbury street was built with the assistance of the federal, provincial, and municipal governments. The rents we are charging are lower than the surrounding rents. As a condition of the funding, there is an income ceiling. The income ceiling is not flexible.
2. What is a Notice of Assessment?
   
   

   Your Notice of Assessment (NOA) is the document that the government returns to you after you file your taxes. Right at the top of the form is line 150, total income. If you request a second copy, you will receive an "Information Return" which has the same information.
3. What do I do if I don't have a Notice of Assessment?
   
   

   If you have lost yours you can call the Canadian Revenue Agency at 1-800-959-8281 and ask them to send you another copy. You will need your Social Insurance Number when you call. If you do not have one for other reasons please contact the rental office at 416-927-1899.
4. Do the copies of my Income Tax Notices of Assessment need to be certified in any way?
   
   

   No. All we need is a photocopy.
5. I am currently living with family/friends. Whom do I list as my landlord?
   
   

   List the property owner or the person who holds the lease with the owner. If you are not paying rent, please indicate that on the application.
6. I am self-employed. Whom do I list as my employer?
   
   

   You may write "self-employed".
7. If the apartment I want is taken can I be on the waiting list for it?
   
   

   We keep a waiting list for each size of apartment but not for individual apartments.

Other:

1. What is affordable housing?
   
   

   The federal government defines affordable housing as housing which is at or below the average market rent for the area.
2. What are the secure bike spaces?
   
   

   There are 30 bike spaces in a secure room in the underground parking level. The room has a security camera and is by fob access only. It is intended for serious cyclists who use their bicycles frequently. Additional bike storage is available for casual cyclists. Applicants who are allocated a space in the secure bike room will need to provide more information about their bicycle.
3. Is there parking?
   
   

   There is underground parking available. Parking is $140/month and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
4. Is there security in the building?
   
   

   The building is equipped with a fob entry system and a network of security cameras. There are also overnight staff on site.
5. What do the apartments look like?
   
   

   In the regular apartments living room floors are hardwood parquet flooring. The walls are off-white, the ceilings are stippled and white and in the bathrooms the floors are ceramic tile with an off-white tile in the tub surround. The kitchens have ceramic tile floors with off-white walls.
6. What do the live/work units look like?
   
   

   The floors and ceilings are concrete and the walls are off-white. In the bathrooms the floors are ceramic tile with an off-white tile in the tub surround. The kitchens have ceramic tile floors with off-white walls. The units have very few interior walls. Many of the smaller units do not have separated bedrooms.
7. May I paint the apartment?
   
   

   Yes. Let us know when you sign your lease if you would like to paint your apartment we can provide you with a copy of the decorating policy.
8. Am I allowed to run my business out of my apartment?
   
   

   Yes, as long as your apartment remains your primary residence and your activities do not interfere with the quiet enjoyment of other apartments in the building..
9. Can I sublet my apartment or live/work unit?
   
   

   Yes, but there are conditions. Because 180 Sudbury received the financial support of the federal, provincial and municipal governments it falls under specific rules. Any new tenant would have to go through the same application process to determine if they are eligible.
10. Can I visit your rental office?
    
    

    Yes. You can come visit us at 180 Sudbury street.
11. Where is the nearest TTC stop?
    
    

    The eastbound Queen Streetcar stops at Abell Street and the westbound Queen Streetcar stops at Beaconsfield Avenue. The Dufferin bus stops at Queen St. West in both directions.
